August 18th-22nd

⚙️Watch video entitled, "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work" and discuss

    Teamwork

⚙️Split into teams and use teamwork to play "Zig Zag Ping Pong" with Solo            cups and ping pong balls.

⚙️ Continue to work on "All A-Bot Me"activity, if time allows.​​​

August 25th-29th

⚙️Watch the motivational video, "Teamwork and Mutual Respect."

⚙️Discuss how working together makes a task easier.

⚙️Complete the "Pass the Egg" challenge using teamwork skills learned.                Materials: cloth napkins, plastic eggs

⚙️ If time allows, students may use a pencil, scissors, and a glue stick to                     complete the "Teamwork Sort" handout.

Term 1, Week 4

September 2nd-5th

⚙️What is S.T.E.M? Discuss the areas of S.T.E.M. Watch video.

⚙️STEM Experiment: Can you cut an index card to fit over your head?

⚙️Team Challenge: "The Longest Paper Chain" Break students into teams and        give each student a piece of construction paper. Teams discuss how to cut the

    paper into strips in order to make the longest paper chain for their team. The

    team with the longest paper chain, wins. Materials: construction paper,

    scissors, and glue stick.

 

Discuss what worked and what didn't to make the longest chain.​​​

Term 1, Week 5

September 8th-12th

⚙️Discuss computers: how we use them, how they work, and different types of

    technology. Show students a desktop computer, mouse, laptop computer,

    iPad, cell phone, speakers, microphone, headphones, etc. 

⚙️Watch video: How Do Computers Work with the Storybots?

⚙️Students will take turns locating different devices using ABCya activity, "Find

    the Technology."

Term 1, Week 6

September 15th-19th

⚙️Discuss Digital Citizenship and why it is important to learn about this topic.

⚙️Students will click on the picture below to go to EdClub's 3rd grade interactive Digital Citizen Hub. Here, students will watch a series of videos explaining Digital Citizenship, Online Safety, and vocabulary that relates to both. They will also take quizzes and make decisions about what to do in given scenarios.

⚙️Students will play "Make & Move" working on different builds at each station. When Mrs. Brister says "Move," students must break down their builds and move to next station in 10 minute intervals.​​​​

October 27th-31st 

⚙️Go over answers to the questions from last week (STEP 3)

⚙️Begin working on STEP 4 & STEP 5 about YOUR PLANET! Discuss the importance of certain conditions if you want your planet to sustain life or have a certain temperature.

Term 2, Week 4

November 3rd-7th 

⚙️Continue to work on making decisions about your new planet (STEP 5)

⚙️Draw a picture of your planet (STEP 6). Don't forget to add rings (if your planet has them), moons, etc.

November 10th-14th 

⚙️Students will work on the Space Activity Pack using a pencil and markers/crayons.

⚙️Students who complete their packets early may get a set of headphones and scan the QR code around the room to go to Storytime Online. They may read or listen to various books the remainder of class.

Term 2, Week 8

December  8th-12th

⚙️Students will complete the Astronaut Arithmetic challenge. Go over together afterwards

⚙️Students will plan for their trip to their planet. Complete the suitcases with drawings and labeling of items needed for trip to their planet with its particular environment.

Term 2, Week 9

December  15th-19th

⚙️Students will pretend they have just landed on their new planet. What was the first thing that happened? Write about it and draw a picture. Describe what you say? Write about it and draw a picture. (STEP 10)

⚙️Students will bring back samples after "exploring their planet." What did you find? Draw pictures of what you found and the samples you took on the sheet with the jars. Be sure to label them.

⚙️Mrs. Brister will go over with students STEP 11 (Constructing your 3D model) of your planet. This will be due on the week of January 12th when you come to Innovation Lab.
